I'll start from the beginning! I'm spending the summer as an intern for Harry Heissmann Inc. in New York City. When I met Harry for the first time, I liked him right away. Here's a link to his website to read a little more about him.
The firm consists of Harry and his assistant, Jennifer. She was an intern for Harry when he worked for Albert Hadley, an iconic Interior Designer also in New York. Our office is located on west 45th street which is only like 3 blocks west of Times Square. It's a great building with a doorman named Mike. He calls me by name every morning and sometimes even rides the elevator up with me to the 6th floor and tells me to have a nice day. What a great guy. Our office is probably only like 500 square feet, if that. Harry has it decorated with these amazing antiques and original art. Here are a couple of pictures of the office.
Jennifer usually sits at the desk and when Harry is in, he usually sits at a little chair next to her. I sit at the couch in the bottom picture usually, but if Harry is in, I am most likely running errands to the bank, Staples, the D&D (more info here:
...seriously, look in to it, it's an amazing place to be as intern), the post office, clients homes, and so on. Harry pays for my MetroCard which gives me unlimited use of public transportation while I'm working and in my off time, which is amazing. He also buys me lunch every day, we usually have sandwiches or salads delivered to the office and we have a never ending supply of Diet Coke in a mini fridge, which let's be honest, suits me just fine.
So, I'll post more on the internship later. Here's a little on my living situation. So, I'm living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our address is 162 East 102nd St, 3rd Floor. Here is a link to google maps, you can see it in street view as well and see it from the outside.
On our block alone is a sweet Mediteranean restaurant called Moustache, a laundromat run by a guy that we affectionately call Guido, a church, a police station and a gas station. We are also just a couple of blocks from Harlem and Central Park. Here's a couple of pictures of the inside of our apartment:
front door entrance, looking out in to the hall. 3rd floor walk up.
this is looking in to the front room. we have a couch and 2 chairs, a table and a rug.
kitchen. crazy small.
so this room is where 5 of the 7 girls sleep. it looks out on to the street.
this is my spot of the apt.
and lastly, this is the view out one of our back windows, from my room.
So that concludes the tour of the apartment. It's a tight squeeze, 7 girls from our studio at school. It's been a while since I've lived with young girls, but so far so good. We live about 20 blocks from a target and a costco for grocery shopping and 1 block from a subway station. We're a stop on the 6 line, that's right J-Lo used to ride the 6.
Okay so that's a good start, right? I'll post some stories from the internship soon. They're piling up...

I love, love, LOVE it! May the happy times continue in NYC!
